1994
In the fall of 1994 my family moved back to Ohio from California. My step dad was always a hard worker and didn’t shy from a challenge, so they moved back knowing that everything would work out. With a squeegee and a bucket he went to businesses and began cleaning windows. After some time he noticed that the blinds in the windows were in need of repair and began repairing blinds. Some of the blinds couldn’t be repaired and Dave went home and talked with my mom, Denise, about researching blind manufacturers. After some research there was only one company that aligned with the vision they had in mind for Continental Blinds. They wanted to partner with a company that provided exceptional customer service and a superior product. It was then that the relationship between Hunter Douglas and Continental Blinds was formed.
For many years Dave cleaned, repaired and sold blinds either from his home or in the customers homes, but eventually he outgrew his home and needed a store front in Grandview, Ohio. That store served he and his wife well for many years, but with all things change is inevitable. Hunter Douglas approached David and Denise about becoming a Hunter Douglas Gallery Dealer and after some conversation it was decided that it was the next right step. Becoming a gallery required more space and so another move was on the horizon. They opened their store front on 5th Avenue in Grandview, Ohio and began hiring family and other employees who would later become part of our family.
After over 20 years in business and a number of moves, expansion became the next topic of conversation. With a little planning and a lot of work our next gallery opened in Westerville, Ohio. As if two galleries weren’t enough on our plate we also began talking about diversifying. Again with a lot of training and work, Continental Lifestyles was born. We’ve decided to take our 30 plus years of experience in the window treatment space and apply the same level of customer service and superior products to the lifestyle space.
I’m not sure what the future holds, but I can’t wait to find out.
Love,
Dawn
